“”HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD?!” - The Recap
Wednesday, January 9, 2013
December 21st, 2012 has come and gone and the world is still here. Maybe the Mayans got it wrong or maybe we just misinterpreted the meaning of it all. Perhaps the world has come to a proverbial end. An end to the fashion of life that had been built over hundreds if years. None of us can deny that the way we live life now is drastically different from what it was 20 years ago. It may seem as though we have expanded upon the horizons of human conditioning through the emergence of social technologies, but I myself have started to question how much we have lost in its wake. I’m not alone in this thinking. More and more we are privy to the signs that there is something increasingly wrong with the way people are behaving. Seemingly, on a daily basis another story emerges that some horrible tragedy or crime has been committed and we are then inundated by every last graphic detail as it spreads throughout the networks we are now all connected to. Now you can try to ignore it and you can try to wish the best for mankind, but it seems as though hope is running out. Pandora’s Box is being closed and it may be quite some time before it reopens. As individuals we can only do our best to stay sane during these troubled times, but this week on PLAYING DEVIL’S ADVOCATE™ -Hosted by Ms. KiKi we’re collectively asking, “HAS THE WORLD GONE MAD?!”.
Ms. KiKi, Sporty Spunky Angel and Peepin Shaun Amin (that’s me), ran down a laundry list of rhymes and reasons as to why we think the world is spinning out of control. See if any of these resonate with you.
Lack of Morals & Manners – Does anyone know how to behave properly?
Failing Education – How dumb do they want us to be?
Rise Of Instant Celebrities – They are not the talented role models they once were.
Food Crisis – Do you have any idea that you’re not eating real food anymore?
Lack of Community Leadership – We’re blindly and cluelessly walking in circles.
Survival of the Unfit- Darwin is spinning in his grave. There are too many medicated people on the planet.
Gun Violence – It’s nothing new, but it seems to be getting massively worse in scope.
Global Desensitization – News, Media and Modern Culture… We’re all victims here.
Technology - With all the good it can do, there is as much bad that it has caused.
This week we were treated to the unadulterated humor of Facebook Shaka-the “Voice of Unreason“ He had his own top five reasons as to why he thinks the world has gone mad. If you missed his first appearance on our show.. Let me just say this… he’s a wild boy and will say things that will not only bring tears to your eyes, but make you question what it is you just heard him say. You’re going to have to listen to the archive to find out exactly what he said that had us in stitches.
We’re starting to have a growing concern about our producer Chandra. How does she manage to outdo herself each and every week? In the realm of drink making she knows no boundaries. This week’s “Drink of the Week” is no exception. I’m not sure how many of you will be scared by the name alone, but if you feel like you need a jump-start, kick-start or you just like to toe the line of life and death, then this is the drink for you. We present to you the A.E.D (Automated External Defibrillator) <– Click the link for the recipe
The Ask PDA letter is a case of self-perpetuating guilt a parent can feel when raising children. We have become a society which overtly coddles its children under the guise of being protective and save them from the hardships of past generations. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing to do, but parents have to be careful not to debilitate their offspring to the point of having a wrongly placed sense of entitlement. One that may one day come back to smack you upside the head. Our writer has apparently provide a great life for her two children. They are both adults and both employed, yet she has never asked them to contribute to the finances of living in her house… excuse me “their” house. Now as a retiree she needs help and believe it or not, her kids are unwilling to. She is questioning whether of not she is being too harsh by asking them to help out or get out. REALLY???
Thanks to our callers, guest panelists and our chat room participants for making this a great show. Keep sending those Tweets, Facebook Messages and emails. We do it for you, but we couldn’t do it without you.
Next week, we decided to offer advice as to how we can all make some sense of the complications we are faced with in this seemingly mad mad world. It may not be as difficult as you think… that is if you have given it any thought at all. The title of next’s week show… “Life – K.I.S.S.”.
