No matter how many times we have heard the biblical quote “Honor thy mother and thy father…”, we want to really give them a piece of our minds at times.  As adults when does “Parental Guidance” become completely over bearing?  Well, glad you asked…as always last night we provided a candid and detailed look at the ways our parents can become a nightmare in our lives.

Are you a victim of unsolicited advice from your mom or dad? Ever hear thing like; “That’s not the way I would do it!” How about making you feel guilty or using emotional blackmail to get you to do things?  This one even caused our Producer Chandra to share her beverage and her thoughts with us on just how much emotional blackmail her  grandmother dishes out.

We also touched on how as grandparents we tend to break all the parenting rules for our precious little angels. Let them have that candy or drink juice while eating dinner.   Why follow the rules, we’re sending them home anyway LOL!  Each one of us discussed how favoritism played a role in our families.  Everything from catching the beat downs to getting away with murder. Find out which one of us had to deal with being the oldest child and who besides KiKi was the spoiled youngest child.  KiKi asked each of us a pretty important and probing question and she also answered it thanks to Peeping Shaun.  To find out, you guessed it and once you listen to the archives you tell us which one sounds like your family.

Dr G. chimed in and gave us an earful on what works her last nerve about meddlesome parents. I even gave a bit of insight into how it is affecting the relationships with my own siblings. (Always a coaching moment on PDA). Are you the child who handles everything for your parents or are you the one who can’t deal with the pressures of an aging or dying parents? Tune into the archives to find out where you really stand and what you can do to get some relief and guidance on how to handle it.

Do your parents meddle in your relationships/marriages? Our “Ask PDA” letter this week gives us the opportunity to really break down  how to regain control of your adult life and respectfully let your parents know they can back off!  One thing my dad used to say when I was in his business too much was ” You hold the tail and let me f*ck the cow!” In other words I GOT THIS! :-)  Take a listen to the archives and come back with your comments, thoughts and/or questions about last nights topic.  Then join us next week as we once again PDA Style cover the next chapter of:     “Battle of the Sexes”

Dueces!

“Generation whY Are you F*ng It Up?” — Recap

Originally aired:

LISTEN NOW!!

I am going to keep it short and sweet this week because you are going to have to check out the archives to get the REAL Deal!

What the hell is wrong with Generation Y? was the main question that prompted this show’s discussion.

I asked the question about whether this generation lacks creativity and originality because we Gen X’rs have allowed them to become lazy.  Sporty Spunky Angel took exception to my comment and didn’t hesitate to let me know about it!  As usual, Shaun sat and watched awhile before jumping in with his two cents about how he though it all began.  We talked about this generation’s lack of consciousness, lack of discipline and respect and the unhealthy sense of entitlement they walk around with!

Then our resident Legal Expert, Ikiesha Al-Shabazz stopped by to weigh in on the two members of Generation Y that she is currently raising and she had us all laughing!  To find out what she had to say about her son you have to listen to the archives! (hint: its about condoms & punishment)  We had a caller waited a patiently to comment and let loose with the way she views Generation Y.

It was then time for the “Ask PDA” letter… all I can say is you have to hear it for yourself and you STILL WON’T BELIEVE IT!!  Our panel and the listeners were speechless!  Check out the archives and give us your opinion on what you would tell this person to do!

Tune in next week for another Edutaining show and don’t forget to tell a friend!

WHAT WOULD YOU DO?? — PART 3 – The Recap

Originally aired:

LISTEN NOW

Each week on Playing Devil’s Advocate™ we serve up an offering of varying opinions and discuss topics of a wide variety. This week’s show was the perfect platform to explore the mentalities of our cast. We all are directly faced with situations in life where we are forced to make decisions, that could very well affect our lives and the lives of other. When such circumstances occur there is only one question to be asked WHAT WOULD YOU DO??

What would you do, if you caught one of your parents cheating?

Where did Sporty learn of her father’s potential infidelity and how did she handle it?

What would you do, if your mate called out someone else’s name during sex?

How would KiKi respond to this? Would she take offense or take it as a challenge?

What would you do, if your mate asked you how many partners you’ve had?

Is this a fair question to ask? How good is my math?

To find out the answers to these and other questions like, “What would you do if you witnessed inappropriate behavior on the internet between an adult and a minor?” and “What would you do if you found out your friend is now in a relationship with someone you used to date?” listen to the show archive and hear for yourself. Feel free to answer these questions for us below in the comment box. We’d love to have your feedback!

As at the end of every show , it was time for the Ask PDA letter; this one seemed to be a question of honesty and respect one should have when in a committed relationship. It’s fine to be selfish about the things you want, but at some point selfishness can be damaging to your partner.

We also had a caller surprise us with a recant of a previous statement made on the show. Listen here to find out who it was and what was said.

We’ll be back again next week with a rather interesting show and discussion on the current state of our youth called:

Generation “WHY” are you F’N things up?

The Adult Playground: Swingers –  The Recap

Originally aired:

LISTEN NOW

If  there is one thing that can be said about Playing Devil’s Advocate™ is that we will always bring you new, raw Edutainment!   This week’s show was no different.  In our weekly production meeting (which is really a show not broadcast to the public LOL) we came across the subject of “swingers”.   In order to provide accurate details, Ms. KiKi decided to send me on assignment.

My mission was to attend a swingers function with a guest and report my experience.  Let me say this,  I had a ball! (Pun intended)  It was a very welcoming environment and plenty of party games to watch and/or participate in.   I know your next question is,What Happened Sporty? What did you do there?”, well for specific details you know the drill; check out the archives.

We also had our special guest swingers “Sunshyne ” and ‘Keith“, both were very open and candid about the lifestyle and how they became a part of it.   Sunshyne let us know that single ladies have all kinds of fun perks unlike single men who are pretty much not allowed unless accompanied by a female.  Keith made it plain that if you search for what you want it is out there;  Whew!  From fantasies to fetishes; feeling freaky can be fulfilling. This was one show where Rocky Miller’s famous quote to me was on point LMBO! What is that quote you ask? –Listen to the archives to get that tidbit.

The questions were non-stop from the chat room, tweets, inbox and callers!  I thought I was on the witness stand when our resident legal expert , Ikiesha began firing away with questions. Everyone answered openly and honestly.  Through this lively question and answer session you will be able to discover what other things the cast of PDA has in common.

We had  terminology break downs of soft swinging, full swaps and voyeurism just to name a few and if you want to know the definitions then tune in to the archives and take your notepad.  Peeping Shaun our new testosterone gave just a little more detail about himself and I’m sure there are more great things in store for our PDA family and friends :-) .  Then it was time for the Ask PDA letter and this writer needed to know that there are some requests even within a marriage that will shock you.  Once you hear the letter come back and tell us how you would handle her situation and what is your advice to the letter writer.

Big shout outs to our repeat offenders in the chat room who are always in rare form and to all of our rookies who are fitting in like a familiar pair of shoes.  Thanks so much for your continued support! If you missed the show take a listen to the archives and post your questions and comments and lets keep the discussion going.

Join us next week as we bring you another show that will ask the question:

“What Would You Do?”   :-)

“Ex-timonials: Our Exs Speak Out” — The Recap

Originally aired:

Wednesday,  April 18, 2012

LISTEN NOW!!

What happens when your Ex is asked questions about your past relationship ???

Well that’s exactly what tonight’s show was about.  Each of us were made to sit and listen as questions were asked of our Exs about the good, the bad, the beginning and end of  our relationship.  The idea was that one could perhaps learn something about oneself  that could help make our next relationship more successful.

First up was Sporty‘s  Ex code name: “Rover”  There was an interesting discovery which led to him being given that name.  Was any embarrassing information given about Sporty?  Was something disclosed that she was not expecting to hear?

Next on the hot seat was me, Shaun Amin‘s Ex: “Sunshine”   Being the newest member of  the PDA Cast , what was revealed about my personality?  Was I the cause of the breakup?  Oh… and how long was what? (to learn what that means you have to listen to the archives)

Finally we were introduced to KiKi‘s Ex aka: “Bubba”  Now we all know Ms. KiKi is the boss of PDA, but is she too bossy?  Does she have a signature bedroom style? What makes our resident provocateur so special?

Do you think our cast found value in hearing candid opinions from our Exs?  Check out the archives to judge for yourself.

Would any of you dare ask an Ex similar questions and just listen to what they have to say?  Please share your thoughts below.

It was then time for the “Ask PDA” letter and it a was situation no one wants to be in.  Our panel seemed to be in agreement that “Family comes first”, but how does one recover from this?   Is all fair in Love and War? Check out the archives and give us your opinion on what you would do in this situation.

Next week join us for the OPEN FORUM WEDNESDAY-LISTENERS CHOICE show!  Who knows where this show will take us as we engage our listeners and chat room participants while discussing any topic or subject matter and answering any questions they may have.  It’s YOUR CHOICE!!!  So if you have something on your mind or that’s been eating away at you,  let’s talk about it.

Thank you all for welcoming me to the show and I look forward to sharing every Wednesday with you!

Ask the Experts | Dr. G’s Follow-Up (4-13-12)

April 13, 2012

by:  Naeemah Ghafur, M.D.

Based on listener questions asked on April 11, 2012 broadcast, Dr. G. has decided to share some useful information for the listeners.  Should you have any additional questions, please post them below and Dr. G. will comment accordingly.

Patient Assistance Programs

I would recommend signing up for CVS, Walgreens or WalMart’s Prescription Plans.  The prices for medications under these plans are considerably lower than they would be even for people who are insured.  In fact, I hardly ever use the insurance prescription plan for my own family because the co-pay for meds is $10 for a one month supply.  By paying $35 at Walgreens for their plan, I can get a 3 month supply of a generic medication for $12.  Another option is Costco.  They’re prices are ridiculously low compared to local pharmacies.

Condoms

Condoms are usually made of latex or polyurethane.  If possible you should use a latex condom, as they are slightly more reliable and in most countries they are most readily available.  Latex condoms can only be used with water based lubricants, not oil based lubricants such as Vaseline or cold cream as they break down the latex.

Polyurethane condoms are made from a type of plastic.  They are suitable for the small number of people who are allergic to latex.  Polyurethane condoms are thinner than latex condoms, and so can increase sensitivity.  However they are more expensive than latex condoms and slightly less flexible so more lubrication may be needed.  Both oil and water based lubricants can be used with these.

It’s not clear whether latex or polyurethane condoms are stronger.  However, with both types the likelihood of breakages is very small if used correctly.

(Shaun, I’m still looking for another alternative to the lambskin)

Semen Allergy

As stated during the show, I would recommend the listener attempt to figure out whether or not she truly is allergic to semen.  I suggested that it may be the condom or lubricant.  Here is an interesting article regarding treating a semen allergy.  I find WebMD very helpful for patients.  Sponsored by Medscape, it is a reputable source.  Plus, the slideshows are awesome!

Women’s Health

All sexually active women 24 years of age or younger (including adolescents), are at increased risk for chlamydial infection. In addition to sexual activity and age, other risk factors for chlamydial infection include a history of chlamydia or other sexually transmitted infection, new or multiple sexual partners, inconsistent condom use and exchanging sex for money or drugs.  Risk factors for pregnant women are the same as for non-pregnant women.

Prevalence of chlamydial infection varies widely among patient populations. African-American and Hispanic women have a higher prevalence of infection than the general population in many communities and settings. Among men and women, increased prevalence rates are also found in incarcerated populations, military recruits, and patients at public sexually transmitted infection clinics. (via US Preventive Services Task Force)

Cancer Screening

The US Preventive Services Task Force studies the latest evidence and makes recommendations based on their findings. It is updated every couple years depending on the information studied.  Cervical cancer screening recommendations were just updated this year. The information/guidelines from the USPSTF is what most doctors in most specialties use in addition to their own specialty governing bodies.

The information is somewhat lengthy but not difficult to understand.  In fact, I would recommend reading it because it gives you a better understanding of why certain organizations make the policies they do.  It isn’t perfect and it isn’t set in stone.  These are only recommendations.

“The Mammogram Issue

This is a sticky subject for me personally because I know of people who were diagnosed with breast cancer at 36-37 years of age and were deceased by 40.  The bottom line is that if someone is concerned about their health and wants a particular test done and the insurance company refuses they will have to pay for it themselves.  There are many radiology groups that offer lower cost exams.  For example, instead of the average $150 for a mammogram, they may charge $75 for lower income individuals. You just need a doctor’s order.

You asked for it and you got it!  The experts were on top of it and answered all of your questions for FREE!!!!

We had our resident Legal Expert Ikeisha El Shabazz, Esq. break it down on several of your legal questions. She was able to give details on terms, policies and procedures. Make sure you know how much force to use on attackers and how to stay out of jail.

Up next was our new shotgun rider Shaun Amin with entertainment and in addition to that awesome  voice he gave some excellent pointers on breaking into the business and staying there. Going union seems to be the best bet per Shaun & KiKi; check out the archives to judge for yourself.

Bringing up the medical 411 was our resident Medical Expert Dr. G! Get your proper screenings at the right times. Exams save lives and prevent severe medical issues.  We tell our Dr’s so much information but who can they share it with and under what circumstances can they share it? Check out the archives for the answer to that and many other questions from our panel and our audience.

It was then time for the “Ask PDA” letter and it was an eye opener to say the least.  The panel seemed to be in agreement with the decision the writer should make.  All I will say is this; “After the nut then what?”  Check out the archives and come back with your opinion on this matter.

Next week join us for the Ex-timonials™ show!  What is that you asked?  Tune in and you won’t be disappointed (as usual) Hint: You will get to meet the cast’s ex’s.

Until next week PDA Fam!

LISTEN NOW!!

Happy Thursday People!!!

Wow!!!  That’s all I can say–For some of us this week’s show was emotional, enlightening, funny and flat out Edutainment™!

Society talks about the racism that exists BETWEEN the races every day because it’s a part of the social commentary; however nobody is talking about the racism that exists WITHIN a particular race.

Listen to this week’s archives of Playing Devil’s Advocate as Ms. KiKi and the crew have the uncomfortable conversation about the racism people face among their own kind.

Have been a victim of discrimination within your own race? Were you appalled by Basketball Wives’, Tami Roman’s “black ass” comment to a dark skinned cast member?  or if you have said or heard someone say something like, “You’re so cute to be dark skinned...”–Listen to the archives NOW to hear the conversation!

We began the show by me announcing that I was in fact the “minority” on the panel and I shared a very personal experience that happened between my brother and myself that seemed to split the panel.  We went in depth about the insultiment,You’re so cute to be dark skinned” and lets just say, the light skinned panelists were grasping for straws to justify that nonsense!

Many people chimed in with their experiences and opinion on our social media sites & Mama Holiday share the benefit of her experiences with us on our Facebook page she even told her recipe for her designer baby…If you catch the archives you will find out which one of our panelist is the “Designer Baby“!  Rocky, Sporty Spunky Angel & our Producer Chandra all shared their experiences on when they realized color was a factor. (and lets just say, some of them were really surprising)

All in all, shows like these are the reason why I L-O-V-E what I do!  Because we are not afraid to have the uncomfortable conversation many were able to experience “light bulb moments” and learn how to be respectful and supportive rather than disrespectful & divisive.

We brought the show home with our “Ask PDA” letter and as usual it did not fail to bring out the opinions….This writer asked for 911 assistance so you must listen to the archives to hear it!  Don’t forget to share your  solution for the writer!!

NEXT WEEK’S TOPIC:    “Ask the Experts!!”

We will be joined by PDA’s resident Medical Expert, Dr. Naeemah Ghafur, PDA’s resident Legal Expert, Ikiesha Al-Shabazz, Esq. and our Resident Entertainment Expert!!

In the meantime send your QUESTIONS FOR OUR GUESTS, additional feedback, comments and suggestions on what topics you would like us to cover via email, Twitter , Facebook and/or submit your “Ask PDA” letters via email to us!

MOOD KILLERS:  SEXUAL DONT’S — The Recap

Originally aired:

Good afternoon PDA Family!

Last night’s show “MOOD KILLERS” was one of our best shows this year!  Our usual suspects were in the mood to give you the 411 on what they deemed “TURN OFFS” in the bedroom.  The show started off with bang with KiKi, Sporty, Sassy, Ikiesha, Rocky, special guest panelist Michael McFadden and my self honing right in on the “DONTS” and “WONTS” that make “WIMPS and “LIMPS”. From acting like a “FIRST TIMER” to a man’s timer “GOING OFF” to soon, nothing was left unspoken.

The educational part of the edutaiment driven show was the communication between the women and men discussing our “SEXUAL PET PEEVES”.  In normal cases, we would debate any point made but its hard to argue about what WONT get you laid.  While the chat room was buzzing, we had a male caller, “Ralph” chime in about his preference and turn off for the way a certain delicacy is prepared and served.  In turn, Chef KiKi gave us a recipe from her sexual smorgasbord in KiKi’S Kinky Kitchen that will surely ASSTOUND some, and delight others.  Now you know you have to listen to the archives for the ingredients and preparation for her devilish dish, but I will share what Sporty and her nasty mind came up with to enhance your sex lives with the video link provided below.

Relationship Diagnostics:  Check Up — The Recap

Originally aired:

LISTEN NOW!!

Good afternoon PDA Family!

I hope all of you feel better after your relationship check-up last night.  Many of us need regular check-ups, but for some strange reason, refuse to go see the LOVE DOCTOR. I must say last night my eyes were opened to symptoms I never recognized before. I learned that men and women have different ways of demonstrating relationship ills and that KiKi will break down the influenza of love in a heart beat then prescribe you the best medicine ever!  Take two minutes to think, and call her in the morning is the best treatment.  Sporty Angel will give you a WHODO spell to cure it then say, “Who do you think you are with that bull crap?” and all relationship woes go down the drain.  Rocky Miller is a little more cynical in his approach to love ailments and sometimes suggest it may be all in a person’s mind. Ikiesha gave her take on open-relationship love remedies that work if applied as directed.

Comedian Rodney Perry even dropped by to share his I wish that I could tell you everything that happened, but KiKi is the only licensed love practitioner who s allowed to write prescriptions (check out her book); but you have to make an appointment (buy her book) to get the best treatment.  While in the chat room, I noticed a few people in there misdiagnosing and treating themselves which explains why they continue to stay sick.

I suggest that you all check the archives, take notes and FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!  As I listen back at the show from last night, I’m starting to feel better already.  Hindsight is 20/20 and the useful info was plenty/plenty. Until next week!!
